ODYSSEY HARD TOP
Very happy with Freespirit Recreation with their quick turnaround on the delivery and very impressed with their customers support.
I'm very satisfied with the product and Freespirit Recreation
Haven't been able to use it yet, as Leitner Designs hasn't refilled their stock of racks yet. It did some damaged, most likely from the shipping company as there was a hole in the side of the box. Everything looks good so far though. Have not opened it up yet.
When offroading there are comfort/convenience purchases and their are capability purchases. As I've gotten older and have a family, I probably put more decision weight on comfort/convenience purchases now. The Odyssey tent is compact enough to fit in my garage and I haven't noticed wind noise from it either. With the additional roof racks I can still have functioning roof space. It has been very easy to set up on my rig but also it's functionally easy to operate and extremely comfortable to sleep in. Also, while offroading I haven't felt top heavy or unstable which was a fear of mine.
There are two things that I wish were different though. 1 is the ladder, I've already pulled away and left one somewhere because it's physically separate from the tent and I wasn't used to considering that. I understand this is a personal thing and you can't have everything you want, but if there was a way to have an integrated ladder I would prefer that. The second is there's no room to leave anything in it when collapsed. Again, this is a bit picky, but it's soo compact that I can't leave my down sleep bag in it. It would be great to have that ability and would make set up/breakdown even better.
Overall though, I did a lot of research before buying this tent, and in the first month I've used it 5 times. It has taken a lot of stress out of going camping, it's really fun, it's very well built, and very comfortable to sleep in. I don't have any regrets and will absolutely be getting even more outdoor time with the family as a result of this tent.
As an avid "overlander" type of outdoorsman, we use our RTT 40+ nights a year. Having owned (3) other RTT types/brands up until this point, I can hands down say this has been the best buying experience from the point of an inquiry phone call until the actual product being installed. From Tim, Renee and Casey all walking me through the process of what tent best meets my changing needs, to the support and welcoming into the FSR family, this has been one of the best buying experiences to date. When making a purchase of this magnitude, customer service is a key attribute in the buying decision and I'm confident in the FSR team that they not only build a quality product, but they stand behind it. In a sea of sameness in the RTT world, I highly recommend taking a look at the FSR Odyssey as the leading hardshell on the market.
Received my order within 3 business days from the evening I placed my order. Located Denver CO. Tent opens as designed, with ease. Sturdy during rain and wind. Kept me well insulated during a 40 degree night, using a big Agnes down sleeping bag. Ladder supports weight of myself and dog being carried at same time. The mounting hardware could be expanded a bit for Yakima Overhaul HD bars. Also, the handlebar nuts to the hardware are a bit cheap, not completely useful for hand tightening to a degree that's satisfactory. Overall amazing tent, adjust hardware or buy separate for a more secure mounting.
