At FSR, our goal has always been to reinvent the rooftop tent from the ground up, creating industry-leading designs focused on quality and innovation.

Founded in Bend, Oregon in 2014, Free Spirit Recreation, referred to as FSR, is known for using high quality materials like the FSR proprietary tri-layer, all season fabric, while also creating designs that are easy to use, and that allow for fast and easy set-ups.

Staying true to our roots, we have innovated one step further – joining forces with a sister-brand in the industry, Backwoods Adventure Mods. Creating a more complete ecosystem of vehicle-based adventure gear and accessories, FSR now has even more resources to continue growing the brand and creating quality products for our customers. FSR will be relocating operations to Springdale, Arkansas.

2014

FSR is born – Founded in Bend, Oregon in 2014 marking the start of Free Spirit Recreation and the beginning of a journey that will prove to innovate based on customer feedback.
2018

Taking our first step into listening to customer feedback, the High Country Series was introduced. Little did we know, that this would be one of the most popular tents for FSR history and that we would iterate and continue to improve this series.
2020

We released our first iterations of the Odyssey and Evolution Series rooftop tents. Evolution easily became the flagship tent for FSR as we introduced the unique design to the world.
2023

Aspen Lite introduced. Creating an ultralight rooftop tent required months of testing and iterating. Aspen Lite, our first hybrid rooftop tent, taught us the importance of weight savings, while still maintaining a rigid, quality tent structure for customers to enjoy.
2026

FSR moves to Springdale, Arkansas alongside Backwoods Adventure Mods.
